Hello, darlings! This post isn’t about clothes, where to dine in X city or a wedding update post. Today, I am going to chat about something near and dear to my heart – my little pup, Brady aka the light of my life!! If you follow our Instagram then you know I am absolutely obsessed with my cat, Harry Winston, and our dog, Tom Brady (I chose the breed and Chris chose the name…though he definitely is a “Brady”). I am the biggest animal lover and I cannot imagine my life without these furry guys making me laugh every day. My phone is probably full of 90% animal photos…I am absurd, I know!
A year or so ago, Brady was diagnosed with “Alopecia X” or “Black Skin Disease.” It is similar to what Lisa Vanderpumps dog, Gigi, has but unlike Alopecia, Alopecia X is curable!! In order to beat it, you need to feed your pup real dog food (not the processed food from the grocery store) and we used dermagic lotion. We had never thought about a raw food diet for Brady until we read how important it was for his coat – he needed nutrients not processed food. You don’t eat twinkies on the reg for your health…why should your dog eat fake food? We switched him to Freshpet and he’s OBSESSED! He is the pickiest eater and I thought Chris feeding him scraps at dinner had completely ruined his taste for dog food. Nope! He absolutely devours the Freshpet food!!
Here are some photos of what his hair looked like a year or so ago when we started this process –
his hair was so bad, I had to buy bandanas to cover his bald neck in the summertime so he wouldn’t get burned (yes, that is a real thing!!)
you can see here is back was starting to grow again but his thighs were pretty sparse
he definitely was more lethargic…it is hard battling something when you’re so tiny!
Fast Forward to The Present Day…
Brady is fluffy as can be!! All of his black skin is gone and he is growing his orange coat again – yay!! It really shows you how important it is to take care of your pup just like you take care of yourself. If you try and eat clean food the majority of the time, you need to do the same for your pet!!
Brady’s Food – Freshpet
Freshpet uses fresh, whole ingredients, gently cooked without preservatives, and it’s kept in the fridge! I love the fridge aspect because you know the meat is fresh…you don’t keep the chicken you’re having for dinner in the pantry!

Brady absolutely loves his Freshpet food and I’m so glad we started him on this diet a year ago! I cannot medically say the food helped his Alopecia X but one of the ways to help the issue is to switch dogs to a raw food diet. Since we moved him to a raw food diet, his coat has majorly improved!! My personal belief is – if you exercise and take care of your body by eating healthy food the majority of the time (everyone needs some cheat days – I follow the 80/20 rule) then you should do the same for your dog!! They deserve the best too!!
This post is sponsored by Freshpet but we have genuinely used this product for Brady before this partnership! I cannot say enough amazing things about this food and Brady loves it too! <3
